PCB
Every gate is built around one of these boards. All of them are made to be ordered pre-assembled from JLCPCB — the parts were chosen to generally be in stock there.
Standard OpenGate PCB V1
Used by every static gate — Pegasus, SG-1 (Basic), Tollan, and Orlin all share the exact same board. It drives the LED strips, the DFPlayer Mini for sound, and the ESP32 that handles WiFi and MQTT. Wired for multiple LED strips (glyphs, chevrons, and event horizon each on their own data pin) — the default for most builds.
Standard OpenGate PCB V2
Same board as V1, just more compact — and wired for a single LED strip instead (glyphs, chevrons, and event horizon all on one continuous strip, one data pin). That means it needs the matching firmware build: pick Single LED strip for your gate model on the Flash a Gate page. Orlin already uses this wiring by default; on the other models, it's what the "single strip" firmware variant is for.
Standard OpenGate PCB V3
Same board as V2, with one change: a standard AC/DC barrel jack replaces the USB-C power input. Everything else — single LED strip wiring, the firmware pick on the Flash a Gate page — stays the same as V2.
SG-1 Motorized PCB
Everything the standard board does, plus a DRV8825 stepper driver and an LM2596 buck converter to run the NEMA17 that spins the inner ring. Used by the motorized SG-1 today; Universe will share the same board once released, since it drives its ring the same way.
